You will want to lie on a blanket on the floor. You'll want to be able to feel the support of the floor, but still be comfortable. Lying on a bed is also fine, if you arent't able to get down to the floor. You just might not benefit as much on so soft a surface. Go SLOWLY and remember to stop, do less, go slower, or do the movement in your imagination if you experience any pain. If you aren't comfortable with your legs straight, you can prop pillows, blankets, or towels under your knees.
I first learned about the X39 patch from one of the other ladies in my Christian Women's Networking group on Facebook. She had made it through stage 3 breast cancer, but the chemo had done a number on her. Within a very short time, the patches had alleviated her symptoms! When I learned that the patches were merely micro crystals that reflected your body's natural red light, and stimulated your stem cells, I thought they'd be a wonderful adjunct for my clients to help them acheive even better results. Since I don't reccomend something without tryng it, I, and a few others who were curious, just completed a 30 day trial with them. Some of what we have noticed is greater mental clarity, improved muscle tone, diminishing age lines and spots, decreased belly fat, better sleep, less inflammation (and pain), improved blood pressure readings. Of course, since each person is different, results vary and no specific reults can be guaranteed. If you decide to try them, put them on at the same time every day, remove after 12 hours, and make sure you stay hydrated. I like to dissolve some celtic salt on my tongue, then drink water.

2. Is there anything that I can do to increase my response to the lessons?
Yes. You can first of all , incorporate Anat Baniel's Nine Essentials into your daily life. You can also schedule an intensive. An intensive is a series of NeuroMovement lessons done in a short amount of time. Typically, they consist of two lessons per day, and vary from 2-5 days in duration. The reason to do intensives is simple. It's the best format to drive changes quickly.
